Subject:Re: Mouse-button names for southpaws From:"Susan Self @ignite" <susan -at- ALSYS -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 2 May 1996 13:18:05 PDT
To address the mouse-button naming problem in the Motif world,
we have chosen the terms MB1, MB2, and MB3. Southpaws can
have their MB1 mapped to the right button and MB3 to the left
button and still follow the directions.
I like the fact that these terms are short and easy to use in a
tutorial without drawing undue attention to the terminology. For
example, you can say:
Select the widget with MB1 and use MB2 to drag it into the Work Area.
Press MB3 to bring up the Work Area Popup Menu.
Once readers understand the terminology, you can use it liberally
in a tutorial to be explicit without being too wordy.
