I used to use PIC. I explained it as having a writer and an artist back to
back. The writer would have to tell the artist how to draw the picture in
terms of "right 20 picas, down 3 picas, left 20 picas, up 3 picas, etc." If
the writer described it correctly, the artist would be able to tell what
sort of a figure the writer had described, but it would not be beautiful.
