Just chiming in as another writer who is not documenting software or hardware.
My main reponsibilities are documenting the procedures in the Financial and
Adminsitrative Services Division of a Medicare contractor. This is part of a
government requirement to document the processes and controls used by all
Medicare contractors. As part of this project, I am asked to do some detail
level documentaion that includes computer steps, but as supporting docs for
the process books. I'm not sure how other contractors are meeting this
requirement, but there might be some additional work out there since this is
mandated for all Medicare processors. If, by some chance, there is someone on
this list who is also doing Medicare work, I would love to hear from you.
