TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
For those of you in the Midwest, STC Region 6 is hosting its annual
conference--Simple Solutions: The Technology Emerges--Oct. 31 through Nov. 2
in St. Louis, Mo. There will be half-day or all-day pre-conference sessions
on Thursday, 16 seminar sessions on Friday, and post-conference sessions on
Saturday. One of the Saturday sessions is STC's Contracting and Independent
Consulting PIC Conference, and the other is a session directed toward
students.
JoAnn Hackos is our keynoter for Friday. We also hold regional
publications and art competitions in conjunction with the conference.
Deadline for those entries is August 16th.
I have attended both STC annual conferences and have participated in our
regional conference for six years, and find that the networking and smaller
groups on the regional level is delightful. We make *every* effort to keep
the cost down...Friday usually costs less than $100 for STC members.
If you'd like more information, please feel free to contact me off-line.
