I came into technical writing from the machine
trade. To avoid confusion, use the proper name
of fastener to be driven. A standard screwdriver
is used upon slot-headed screws, so use slot-headed
screwdriver. For hex-headed screws use hex-headed
screwdriver. For torx-headed screws, use torx-headed
screwdriver. If you are uncertain of the proper name
of a fastener, purchase a volumn of 'Machinery Handbook'
or some other machine tool standard.
