Position: Technical Writer
Full time, regular position
We are currently looking for a full-time Technical Writer to document our
Windows-based equity management software. The manuals produced will clearly
present the software to a non-technical audience and will also detail the
concepts and practices of equity compensation.
Working as a member of our four-person writing/editing team, you will
document the products, participate in decisions regarding style and format,
participate in the planning process, and have some fun too. Working as a
member of the larger development team, you will work with design specialists,
subject matter experts, and software engineers to obtain the necessary
information for the documents being produced.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years software documentation -- developing end-user manuals and guides
for a non-technical audience
- 2+ years working in a software development environment
- Understanding and working knowledge of document design and development
- Individual Project Management skills -- concept, planning, scheduling,
implementation, and production
- Knowledge of document design and development processes, production and
release processes
- Excellent communication skills
- Enthusiasm and willingness to do ?whatever it takes? to get the job done
- Thorough knowledge of Windows, MS Word, and PageMaker
- Experience writing On-line documentation is a plus
- A background in financial systems is a plus -- although the applicant must
be willing to learn stock plan administration laws and regulations
Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and produce end-user documentation describing ShareData?s
Windows-based software
- Know the product and the equity compensation field behind the product
- Work in a positive, enthusiastic team environment
- Work with specifications, development personnel, and SMEs to obtain the
information required to document the product
- Work within an agreed-upon schedule
- Communicate, communicate, communicate
Education:
- BA/BS or higher in English or technical writing, or equivalent work
experience
