Hello all
My current contract is expiring soon and I am interested in and have been
offered a few positions away from my native Australia. I have been offered
two positions in the USA and a few agencies want me to travel to London (for
contracts around Europe).
I am interested in a technical writing & training position in Champaign
Illinois and I have never been to the USA. Can some tech writers in the
vicinity please send me some info (off the list) on what Illinois is like.
Also I know it has been mentioned before but I haven't seen the results:
what sort of pay rates can I expect (eg for a person with a degree, some
certificates and over 11 years experience in the computing industry and 4
years exp in my current field). Can I be given the different rates for
permanent and contract work. Apparently I will be sponsored for a H1 visa
in the USA and then can apply for residency. I already have permanent
residency in the European community. Can any info please be sent to me
personally and then I will mail the list back with any info (to avoid
repetition etc).
Has anyone on the list travelled extensively for their work? Do you have
any hints on travelling or which position I should accept (Europe or the USA
and why).
Thanks in anticipation.
