TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
We used to refer to our manual (our "manual" consisted of 5 volumes) as the
Reference Guide. Then we divided it into two sets of manuals and refer to one
set as the Reference Guide and the other set as the User's Guide. The Reference
Guide is basically what it sounds like, a dictionary of the various options
available with the software. We have turned our User's Guide into basically a
why you would use this option with tutorials. These terms work for me!
