Oops! Too bad the control-S key means send, not save in
CCMail. (Conditioned relexes... you gotta love 'em!) Missed
the last half of my response to the Appendix question:
You can use letters, numbers or Roman numerals with equal
success to label your appendices: nobody will mistake a
"see appendix 1" or "see figure A-1" reference for "see
chapter 1" or "see figure 1", provided that you're
consistent in your referencing and labeling. The only
advantage to numbers is that there are no complications if
you move beyond 26 entries (with alphabetic appendices, you
must decide on whether to use AA etc.) or about 40 for
Roman numerals (once you get past XXIX, many audience
members stop knowing how to count and put them in
sequence). Numbers is the easiest solution, and thus the
most common.
