The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Interleaf has by far the best document management package out there,
as far as I've been able to tell. When things are properly set up,
multi-version multi-document management is no more painful than
you'd expect -- maybe less so. There's no Mac version, though.
Most users are on workstations, though the Windows NT/Win95 version
is a complete implementation.
FrameMaker has clumsy versions of some of the same features, but I
don't think there's any comparison.
Interleaf is a high-end package wich requires training or serious
effort to master, bu tit's worth it.
