Subject:STC local chapter brochures From:Tim Altom <taltom -at- IQUEST -dot- NET> Date:Sun, 15 Sep 1996 16:34:00 EST
Our local STC chapter is banging together a brochure. We didn't want to
duplicate what the national brochures already did, which meant we had to
target our own chapter's strengths. In our case, it appears to be the solid
phalanax of informational meetings. None of our meetings are fluffy anymore.
I began wondering if other chapters were developing their own materials, and
the approaches they'd taken. My first take on the copy was to make it
marketing-oriented, rather than simply informational. What's been the record
on the approaches when others have tried them?
Remember too that I'm talking about a chapter that ranks 44th in size in the
country, including student chapters. We only have about 120 members
(although, of course, the brochure is expected to help bolster this figure).
With such a small membership we don't run competitions and we don't publish
a regular newsletter. But we feel the need for a chapter-specific piece of
marketing. Any suggestions?
