TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
NV> Rather than split TECHWR into different lists, why not use
NV> specific terms in the Subject of your mail?
this is an idea that worked quite well in several big FIDOnet discussions here
in Germany.
NV> Diane Cohn has suggested some nice terms for starters:
NV>
NV> career - editing - doc design - windows - unix - html -
NV> contracting -
NV> corporate politics - all
We should try to find some two- or three-letter codes for that. Many
mail editors show only some 40 characters of the subject - at least in the
overview window.
BTW: This system works quite well even in uncivilized newsgroups like
alt.sex.stories.
