I'm still using xv. I'll have to look into Image Tool.
The gif files created in xv do not always port well to my Windows 95 machine.
Frame, especially, seems to have problems with them. My solution is to
Import the xv generated gif file into Corel Xara! and then Export it as gif.
Seems silly, I know, but it always works.
