TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Assignment: Temporary work starting in January for 4 to 12 weeks. May
lead to full-time employee position with the company.
Minimum Entry Requirements: Candidates must have a BS/BA in English or
Journalism with concentrated coursework in technical writing. In addition,
candidates must have at least 2 years experience in the documentation of
commercial software products. Experience in on-line documentation on the PC
and/or MAC platforms and familiarity with graphics software products, such
as Adobe Photoshop, is highly desirable. Must have experience with desktop
publishing software such as Pagemaker or QuarkXpress.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops on-line and hardcopy documentation for graphics plug-in products
for the PC and Macintosh platforms. Works with engineering, marketing, and
target customers to develop appropriate documentation. Surveys competing
products' documentation to assess market expectations regarding
documentation. Uses the alpha software to create the documentation.
