Intuit's San Diego facility has two open full-time technical writing positions.
Job descriptions and application procedures follow: --Mark Johnson, Intuit
You will be responsible for designing either print or online
documentation for our leading tax software for
individuals--TurboTax/MacInTax--or our leading tax software for
professionals--ProSeries TurboTax. You will write documentation,
solicit feedback on materials, implement book or online design and
style guide for either new and existing documentation. You will write
strategy documents to inform other functional groups about our
documentation plans. You will research information pertaining to your
projects by reading specs, testing software or interviewing people
involved in the project. You will test documentation against the
software to confirm technical accuracy. Additionally, you will review
the work of other writers and work with other functional groups on a
daily basis.
Teamwork is an essential part of this job. Our varying
functional groups have a large number of interdependencies and you
will be part of keeping people well-informed and gathering the
information and content you need. You must have the ability to write
various types of manuscripts, both print and on-line, by being able to
organize complex material, explain complex concepts and write to
motivate an audience. You must be willing to work under stressful
deadlines and put in whatever hours it takes to get the job done well.
3 years experience in print-based technical or online writing is
required. A BA in a writing or communication field is preferred. We
are looking for individuals who are: customer-focused, team players,
willing to work extra hours to get the job done, pay close attention
to detail, flexible, approachable, and make clear and quick decisions.
