Hiring issues are about the current abilities of candidates for the
current position's needs, and resumes are about getting interviews not
jobs. The job of winnowing incoming resumes is staggering at best, so
less is more. Regardless of the merit, this is the current way.
OTOH, most jobs it's said are filled through informal referral networks,
which is where things that don't fit in computer-scanned resume processes
do count, especially in the important step--getting the interview.
