Subject:Houston Meeting Notice From:Julia Land <jltw -at- EARTHLINK -dot- NET> Date:Mon, 10 Mar 1997 09:15:49 -0600
Good Morning everyone,
I'm cross posting this, so if you belong to the same set of lists as I do,
you will see it four times. My apologies!
The Houston chapter of the STC has a very active committee of independent and
contract technical writers. Our March committee meeting is about some very
practical aspects of independence. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
The meeting announcement is below.
Please call me at (713) 680-9236 or email me at jalnd -at- earthlink -dot- net for more
information and to RSVP. If you just reply to this message, your reply will
get lost in my mailing list mailbox with the hundreds of incoming messages I
get from the lists.

Gem Smith and Julia Land will moderate the next meeting of the
Independent Contractors Professional Interest Committee. The topic is
"Is your support system working?" Gem and Julia will lead a discussion
about business requirements that corporations generally provide for
their employees, but that independent contractors must provide for
themselves. Come prepared to share your own solutions to such issues
as:
Where is your office?
How do you get office supplies?
Who answers your phone if you aren't there?
How do you get and send faxes?
How many phone lines do you need?
The meeting is Wednesday, March 19 at 6:00.
Location: One West Loop South (Houston Cellular Building) between Post Oak
and Memorial, Room 109.
COST: $3 meeting fee for all; an additional $3 to $5 if you plan to eat
(sandwich/chips or pizza and soft drink). You must indicate when you
RSVP whether you intend to eat or not; if you don't say so, we will assume
you are not eating and won't have anything for you.
Please call or email Julia Land to RSVP or to request more information.
Phone: (713) 680-9236
Email: jalnd -at- earthlink -dot- net
Thanks,
Julia
