The ShowCase Corporation is currently looking to add a Product Author to
its Development staff. This individual will be responsible for:
all phases of creating product documentation
researching and coordinating with subject matter experts to determine
documentation requirements
scheduling writing activities according to product release deadlines
writing and editing documentation in accordance with established
standards
creating online help systems for Windows environments (may include
creating HTML- and JAVA-based help in the future)
conducting design reviews of documentation
planning implementation of new technologies into the documentation
development process
working on cross-functional teams in the areas of interface design,
product usability, product packaging, etc.
reviewing Marketing collateral to ensure technical accuracy; writing,
editing and reviewing various product-related documents, including
technical specifications, white papers, field guides, etc.
researching, designing and creating product demos and the product demo
environment
researching, designing and creating product tutorials and the product
tutorial environment
This individual should have:
3-5 years writing experience
Excellent communications skills with the ability to translate technical
concepts and instructions into end-user language
Experience using Windows operating system and word processing packages
like MS Word
Working knowledge of online documentation tools such as including
Winhelp, Acrobat, or HTML editors.
Detail-oriented approach to work assignments
Ability to work independently on projects and complete them within a
defined schedule. Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
Must be a self-starter and assertive.
Familiarity with AS/400 and data warehousing a strong plus
Understanding of emerging technologies and how they apply to technical
communication, including HTML, Web Page design, Web tool knowledge a
strong plus.
