Subject:Printed & Online Manual, and Help From:"Robin M. Allen" <robin -dot- m -dot- allen -at- WORLDNET -dot- ATT -dot- NET> Date:Tue, 25 Mar 1997 08:28:29 -0600
Hi Ya'll:
I'm another one new to the list. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks
and have learned a great deal. It's nice to know that someone, somewhere
has had *and solved* the same problems.
I am starting a new project in a week or so and part of the requirement
is to have an online manual, a printed manual, and online help from a
single source document. We are a service company and customers will use
our web site extensively to place orders, maintain accounts, etc.
The details are sketchy right now, but I have to recommend a strategy
and I want to sound semi-intelligent. Keeping in mind that a lot of
activity will happen on the Internet, my questions are:
- What tools can I use to create and maintain all of this?
- In what file format should I save the online manual?
- Should I create the manual to be used with some type of reader
like
Acrobat (which I'm not familiar with)?
I have written several help files with Forehelp, but this is the first
time I have had to provide all three scenarios. I need help!
Thanks in Advance: Robin Allen
