Subject:Re: Converting Windows Help to Mac Help From:"Cramer, Kim" <kcramer -at- NCSLINK -dot- COM> Date:Tue, 3 Jun 1997 13:27:00 -0700
First, I'd really like to thank Sue Heim et al for the info on the
Microsoft MacHelp engine. This may save my company a big headache in
preparing Mac Help files for our cross-platform application. I did some
quick testing this morning, and I like these files much better than the
ones we currently produce with E-Help.
I have a graphics question that I hope someone can answer. Our help
files contain bitmaps of program icons. When we view them on the Mac
using the Microsoft MacHelp engine, the graphics are really ugly - like
random pixels are missing. Have any of you encountered this problem?
If so, any ideas on how to improve the images? Is there a graphics
format supported by WinHelp that might work on both platforms? I
suppose I could just delete the icons, but I don't want to as they
provide users with a visual clue to the correct icon to perform a
function.
Also, Kathryn Marshall mentioned that you must use version 3 of the
compiler for this to work. I'm using HCP.EXE, and when I tried checking
the properties, the version wasn't identified. I'm assuming I have the
correct version as everything worked OK. Does anyone know if upgrading
to RoboHelp 4.0 will cause a problem? I'll still be using the HCP.EXE
compiler.
Thanks for any help you can provide on this!
