FWIW, the consulting company for which I labor -- I won't
mention Trecom's name -- makes certain that all TW
candidates are ''teched'' by the resident writer (this
scrivener); occasionally a person applying for a
''communications sensitive job'' (i.e. where the candidate
REALLY must have ''communications skills'' and not just the
phrase on a resume) I am asked to review the resume/cover
letter and to spend some time talking to the candidate.
For the most part, the company takes tech interviews very
seriously and attempts to have these undertaken by a person
(or persons) with the relevant skill set(s). An hour phone
interview is NOT uncommon, although it IS hard on the ears.
