I suppose I should have been more clear... my suggestion to Greg Byers
re listserv admin messages was also sent to the list intended as a
friendly reminder to everyone:
This applies to almost all email lists. When you subscribe, most
listservs will send two or three "admin" messages. These messages
typically include instructions on how to post/submit, how to change
your confirmation settings, and of course, how to unsubscribe. It
would be pointless to suggest that everyone remember to actually READ
these messages when they're received, but I would recommend that they
at least SAVE them somewhere for future reference.
In PMMail, I have all my different lists sorted into their own folders.
Under each folder is another sub-folder specifically for
administrivia, including such important listserv information (an for
lists like TechWR-L, posting guidelines, etc.).
Little things like this will help you avoid having to post "Please
remove me from this list!" messages publicly. And again, this applies
to almost all listservs.
Your friend and mine,
Matt
