I'm glad you think so and I can't disagree.
My citing Wooden, Paterno, and Lombardi as role models is really a
rhetorical ploy to answer the accusation that a degree in English is
"useless." In our bread and circuses society, what could be better than to
point to athletic coaches with a background in language to validate my
position? Logically it means nothing, but in an age when sophistry is all...
I do the same thing when fanatical vegetarians ascribe everything wonderful
to giving up meat - I point out that Hitler was a vegetarian.
