If it were me, I'd send a letter to this local STC, directed to all of the
officers, and declare my intent to organize a student chapter. And, after
finding ten or more students, do so. I have only one question:
Would this new student chapter be open to commercial enterprises and
professionals? <g>.

I have a situation that I don't know quite how to deal and I would like
some help.
The local STC chapter where I live does not seem to care that there are
undergrad and graduate student members who might benefit from being able to
interact with the professionals in our area.
