To the anonymous person who requested help: It sounds like
you've got a bunch of idiots in your local STC chapter; STC
membership and idiocy aren't mutually exclusive options,
unfortunately. Maybe they would be if we were all

In the meantime, I suspect that your suggestion--starting a
student chapter--is an excellent way to go. I also think it
would be poetic justice if you ended up with more members
than the non-student chapter, and more interesting and
