I am a technical writer planning to return to contracting soon. Before I
do, I want to purchase a computer system that will facilitate building
a contracting business.

I specialize in writing about software, both for the user and for the
developer (i.e., user manuals, online help, plus engineering
specifications and design documents).

I want a system that will support the widest base of potential clients as
possible. If you have any suggestions regarding which computer I should
purchase (and which software), please share your ideas with me.

Ideally, I would have as much money to spend on this system as possible.
But right now I am looking for a package that runs between $3500 and $5000
with the potential for upgrades for future needs.

Any and all input is much appreciated,
