Here is a reminder notice from another list manager.
I have always thought this clipping is for common
courtesy and saving bandwidth. What is this list's
policy?
I have also thought that common netiquette when
disagreeing with another's ideas it was common
courtesy to not include the other person's name
so as not to fan a flamewar.
Just asking... really. I would like to
know for posting clarification's sake.
What is this list's policy on:
0 clipping?
0 not including other people's names
when responding to ideas?
Please, please, please: When replying to messages on _______ , do not
quote the full text of every previous message on that topic. This gets
absurdly long and redundant, clogs up mailboxes, and makes the digests
cumbersome and wasteful. If you must quote, snip it down to a line or
two. Many recent messages have quoted as many as four or five previous
messages on the same topic, which we've all seen already. (And they are
available on the archive gopher to anyone who hasn't.)
Also, those of you whose mailers are capable of sending messages in
HTML format, with colored text, italics, etc. : Please don't send stuff
to the list that way. It generally gets garbled by mailserv anyway so
those who have HTML equipped readers can't see your special effects. And
those of us who use ordinary text-based software have to wade through
pages and pages of gibberish to try to find your actual message.
If you don't know how to control these functions of your mail software,
then you should LEARN. It is a matter of common courtesy.
