When I desperately needed a screen capture program for NT 4.0 this spring
and HiJaak wasn't ready yet, I found a great application that's really
inexpensive, simple and super-easy to use: HyperSnap.
I've used it a lot since then and have never had an ounce of trouble. The
only thing missing (that we need) is the ability to convert to (or save as)
TIF or PICT, which the developer says he's going to add soon.
Below are the details, including instructions for downloading a trial copy.

HyperSnap-DX ver. 3 -- Cost: $25.
HyperSnap-DX is a powerful and easy-to-use screen capture
program for Windows 95 and NT 4.0. Here are some of the
features:
* Capture entire desktop, selected window or client area, or
draw a rectangle over the desktop to select (with optional arrow
keys control for a precise "cut" with pixel accuracy).
* Can now also capture screens from DirectX games!
* Automatic vertical scrolling and simultaneous capture of
entire window area not shown on screen - great for capturing
entire WEB pages and other documents.
* Save your image as a BMP, GIF, JPEG file, print or copy to
clipboard.
* GIFs can be optionally interlaced and include transparent
backgrounds.
* JPEG files formats include the new progressive format JPEG
that is becoming popular on World Wide Web.
* BMP graphics can be saved in 16, 256, 64K or 16M colors.
* Include the cursor image in your capture.
* Choose your own Hot Keys that quickly capture the entire
Desktop, any Rectangle you outline, or the highlighted Window or
Client, and automatically repeat the capture every x seconds or
by using another HotKey.
* Automatically save each of your captures to a file by default
- you can even trigger new captures every x seconds and have the
filename incremented.
* Print your capture direct from HyperSnap - it will expand the
image to the size of the paper and margins that you set, and
even add a frame, reverse, or reduce the output to black and
white.
Hyperionics sells also HyperCam program, which captures the
action from Windows 95 or NT screen and saves it to standard AVI
files. Up to 10 frames per second can be captured on Pentium 133
machine of 640x480 size picture in 8 bit color mode, more if you
have a faster machine or capture a smaller area. The sound is
also captured via your system microphone. Find more about
HyperCam and download it from:
