Subject:Following up on Time and Noncompressible From:Miark <miark -at- MIJENIX -dot- COM> Date:Tue, 9 Sep 1997 11:47:15 -0500
Wow, I'm impressed and thankful for the all the responses that
have come in!
Here's what I ended up adding to our business hours re: the time issue:
(GMT -06:00).
I could have gone with UMT or UTC, but I figure some people
are probably familiar only with GMT, and those familiar with UMT
or CMT are likely to also know GMT.
As for the "noncompressible" question, I went with
Noncompressible (I spelled it wrighte and everything!)
From one of the posts, I see "incompressible" might be the preferable
choice, but 1) it's more or less too late to change the guide, 2)
noncompressible isn't necessarily wrong, and 3) "non" communicates
the idea just as readily, if not more, than "in".
I appreciated the notions that "noncompressible" isn't very user friendly
anyway, but because of space, and the look, I just couldn't bring myself
to use a long alternative. I avoided the word in the following body text,
though.
Thanks again,
Mike
