I couldn't resist jumping feet first into this one, given my company name.
So this master-slave thing repeats itself on TECHWR-L every few months,
does it? All I wonder is just what is this saying about our collective
unconscious? ;)

Oh, no! Too clunky, not to mention confusingly vainglorious. (Although,
come to think of it, the latter trait might not be such a bad thing to
associate with one's company.)
Here, I've got a better solution. For a "cutting edge" (ahem!) substitute
master-slave term-set for all technical writers to use, I hereby nominate:
"Facilitator" and "actuator"
