I have always been told that if the punctucation belongs to the quotation mar
then you put the punctuation inside the quote... "what do you thing?", said
barb.
but otherwise it goes outside the quotation.
Malcolm X said, "Don't ever look back, and don't ever cry".
maybe that wasn't a good example....
