Subject:Violent words From:barryk -at- MDHOST -dot- CSE -dot- TEK -dot- COM Date:Fri, 19 Sep 1997 10:01:26 -0700
I just came from my Editor's office, and she made me cry.
She told me that I had to "force" a paragraph to the next page.
That upset me greatly. Why do we have so many violent and hurtful
terms in technical writing?
My Editor should be more sensitive.
Instead of "forcing" the paragraph to the next page, I empowered the
paragraph by allowing it to start on a brand new page. (I am such a good
person!)
We as technical writers must rid the world of hurtful and mean words!
No more use of "slave" and "abort"!
</end rant>
See how silly this all sounds...
Let's stop being the protectors of super-sensitive people, and get on with
the job we were hired to do; write technical prose.
Regards,
Barry Kieffer
