I beg to differ; McAfee VirusScan95 and NetShieldNT DO detect several
variants of Word macro viruses. I've seen it happen. Dr. Solomon Software
claims their virus checker can detect macro viruses; I'm not sure about
Symantec's.

If Im not mistaken(surely Ill be corrected) you can simply delete the
normal.dot and Word will regenerate a default version of it.
Also, there is no virus checker that can detect a Word Macro virus.
These are simply word macros and look as such to any virus checker.
