In response to David Castro (techwrtr -at- crt -dot- com), who asks about indexer
contract rates ....
You're right. A good index is vital to online documentation. IMHO, a good
index is even *more* important in online docs than it is in printed docs.
Most people using indexes for online docs experience something similar to
the phenomenon experienced by impatient drivers who get behind the wheel of
a car and want to get where they're going *now*; they don't want anything
to get in their way!
If you want to find indexers in your area who have expertise in indexing
online docs, I'd suggest that you contact the ASI (American Society of
Indexers) administrative office (asi -at- well -dot- com). Or, if you prefer, contact
me privately, and I'll be happy to refer you to two or three professional
indexers.
Happy indexing .... Lori
