I believe the original poster meant something like this.
X This is an indented bulleted list, and as you can see all
the text lines up neatly under the previous line (if you're
using a non-proportional font, anyway).
As you'll see, the bullet itself is indented, whether the following text is
flush with the bullet or indent further is immaterial.
