Has anyone else had trouble importing Word 97 files saved in .rtf
format into FrameMaker 5.5? I'm running on a NT 4.0 platform. I've
searched the archives, and the Adobe web site, but the solution eludes
me. I get the "Unknown File Format" dialog, select "Windows RTF" and get
to 99% complete on the conversion, then it hangs.
Import doesn't work. I had succes by *opening* the Word97 .rtf file in FrameMaker. (File>Open>File.rtf). Depending on the file size it can take a looonnnggg time to open, but it should work. The % complete bar sits at 99% for many minutes. (It might even disappear. I'm not sure because I usuall go off and do something else while I wait!) Don't be surprised if it takes up to 15 or 20 minutes for large files (30+ Mb).
Good luck!
