Jonathan:
In order of importance...and these don't just apply to the first day/week/month, but for the rest of your life.
1) Listen....listen.....listen
2) Question....question....question
3) Learn...learn...learn
4) Accept the fact that the real world has nothing in common with the school world and you are not in Kansas anymore.
5) Remember the Golden Rule (He who has the Gold, makes the Rules)
Good luck

Subject: First day advice.
I start my first real job straight out of college on Monday. (Graduated
Dec. 19) I spoke on the telephone to an old friend last night who is 6
months into working an advertising job for a law publication. She told me
about some of her downfalls since starting. Anyone have any brief advice
for a promising new tech writer for his first day/week/month on the job?
Thanks,
Jonathan J. Soukup
