Ah yes, I think we met this same thing about 12 months ago ...
If it is the same thing as we had, I don't think you can/we never
found an answer. I put the information I needed in a separate
frame and formatted accordingly to make it look like the footer
(in our case).
It wasn't ideal, but may be worth a try.

Subject: Word 7 Query: Auto update of fields in Headers?
Hi there everyone.
In some Word 7 docs I'm using a bookmark to update a text field
in the
headers. However, there seems to be no automatic update of
Headers/Footers. The boomark refers to information stored in
another
local file. The info updates manually, but not automatically
(using
Select All-Update or closing and then re-opening the doc). How
do I make
them update automatically?
Can't find anything in the archives, so if anyone can help,
please do!
