Alliance Data Systems is seeking a full-time Senior Technical Writer in
Dallas, Texas.

The position requires an experienced individual who is technical in
nature and has an interest in documenting mainframe operations systems
for delivery via a corporate IntraNet.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE
7 - 10+ years experience as technical writer.
Experience delivering technical (system level) and end-user
documentation supporting software that is executed in both mainframe and
client/server environments.
Experience documenting OLTP and electronic commerce applications in a
mainframe environment.
Knowledge and/or experience with programming languages such as COBOL, C,
or C++.
Expertise using tools such as RoboHelp, MS/Word, HTML Help Workshop, and
other on-line documentation creation tools and document publishing
software.
Other skills include knowledge of WWW languages, tools, and utilities
including Java, CGI, C++, VRML, PERL, FTP, Telnet, USENET, Gopher,
Visual InterDev and HTTP.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Gathers technical information by conducting in-depth analysis of subject
matter.
Researches existing documentation including specifications, drawings,
and other technical information.
Interviews programmers, analysts, operations, and other technical
personnel to gain knowledge of the subject matter.
Prepares written text and coordinates the electronic distribution of the
information via corporate Intranet.
Creates system and operations documentation for a mainframe environment.
Develops written material that maximizes productivity and knowledge of
technical personnel who use systems and processes supported by the
documentation.
Adheres to the approved format and style guide of the documentation
department.
Other technical writing projects as assigned by the Documentation
Support Services Manager.
Responsible for the departmental webpages.
The candidate must be understand and embrace technology, be organized,
detailed and possess excellent oral and written communications skills.
Self-starter who has the capability to gather information from disparate
sources, assemble the data, produce documentation and plan for
electronic distribution of the material via Intranet.
Candidate should possess a Bachelors degree in Technical Writing,
Journalism, English, Computer Science, Business or equivalent
experience.
