TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
ABSOLUTELY. Especially since you are the sole tech writer. The
conference will have workshops, vendor displays, seminars, lots and lots
of great handouts, the conference proceedings, and more. Plus it's
really helpful to talk to the other writers, see their problems and
solutions, and build a good professional support network. I only wish
*I* could go, but my company isn't sending me.
I suspect there will be a lot of "new" technology discussed as well as
where we're going with Help development and Microsoft, especially since
Ralph Walden is leaving. IMHO he was the "heart" of both WinHelp and
HTMLHelp at MS...not to take away from Kate and the others. They were
just less visible.
Lucky you!!
