TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Actually, my take on technical writing is that we're all extroverted
introverts, a stance that should offend both extremes. <grin> You
can't call writing an extroverted activity, since you do it alone
(and wash your hands when you're done); but neither can you write in
a vacuum, and you won't succeed if you're not at least sufficiently
extroverted to talk to your SMEs and get the facts.
Enough psychobabble... here's a more techwhirly-type question. The
reason I've been posting to techwr-l via intermediaries (thanks,
Wayne!) is that we've recently upgraded [sic] to a combination of
Pegasus e-mail and the Mercury gateway, leaving me in the position of
being able to read techwr-l digests (but not respond) or respond (but
not read the digests... spot the problem!). If you're using this
combination of software and have a suggestion on how to fix this
problem, I'd be deeply grateful. And the techwr-l tie-in? I've been
volunteered to write the in-house user guide for the software, and
this is kinda important to add in for future e-mail administrators.
