Responsibilities: Plan and write new manuals and online help for end-users
of GUI software. Write installation and release notes; create indexes,
screen shots, and simple illustrations; maintain and enhance existing
documentation. Gather information by interviewing software engineers,
reading engineering specs, and using Beta software. Participate in
cross-functional project meetings and user interface design reviews.
Estimate and maintain schedules. Participate in shaping the future of our
documentation as a member of a small, growing technical publications team.
Qualifications: At least three years technical writing experience is
required, including at least one year writing manuals and online help for
GUI software. Demonstrated ability to grasp technical issues, take the
user's point of view, and write clear, concise, and accurate overviews,
explanations, and step-by-step instructions. Working knowledge of
FrameMaker and RoboHelp. Ability to work both independently and as a
responsible member of a team. BA or equivalent. Pluses include knowledge of
online help design, new help technologies, HTML, Adobe Acrobat, and
client/server technology.
