Hi Dick,
Awhile back I was contracted to design a spelling style guide for
E-commerce developers at a major financial corporation. In order for
words to be listed, there had to be three (3) TECHNICAL references cited.
On this list, 'online' is spelled as one complete word, whether it be a
noun, adjective, or verb (which is becoming standard in conceptual
information architecture). Hope this helps.
