My solution to a similar problem was to come up with a series of three icons
representing the three versions of the product. When a particular section
applies only to one or two versions, the appropriate icons appear in the
left margin.
For screenshots, I worked up a complicated system of includetext fields ...
basically, a simple search and replace and I can replace one set of pictures
with another. So far so good.
