Multinational corporation is seeking an experienced documentation manager
for its Rome office:
Responsibilities:
- Build a strong documentation team
- Help develop a corporate strategy for usable on-line and hardcopy
documentation
- Work with documentation groups from other corporate sites (HQ Austin, TX,
Raleigh, NC, Indianapolis, IN,
and Santa Clara, CA) to develop consistency and a uniform documentation
process across sites
- Design documentation that reduces calls to customer support
- Obtain and respond to customer feedback from our documentation
- Manage the budget: including contract and tools expenses, process
changes,
translation activities, and salaries
- Recruit and retain outstanding writers by nurturing writers' skills and
providing
attractive career paths
Requirements:
- Minimum two years management experience, including staffing and budget
management
- Ability to manage various projects with aggressive deadlines and limited
resources
- Experience as a technical writer or editor
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including with people of
different cultures and languages
- Knowledge of IBM's information development process a plus
