I recently discovered (most of you probably already know this), while
battling with the indenting problem when restarting the numbering, that
if you have customized the indent in the paragraph style box, you also
have to set the desired indent in the customize numbering dialog box
[bullets and numbering | customize...].
If you do this, you will maintain the indent when you restart the
numbering.
