I think some people still believe that NOBODY actually reads a user manual.
People do, and some people do expect a conventions section.

What do we need to think about when we write? We need to think about
meeting the expectations of the user.

How do we meet the expectations of 1,000 different users with 1,000
different perspectives? We TELL them what to expect, then deliver.
