Joy is likely exactly right--many of the vaguely tech writing
related spams I've gotten lately have been a direct result of STC's
rental list. After one instance of serious misuse of the
TECHWR-L list and several other suspected cases, I started
calling some of the spammers to find out where they
got my name, and all that I contacted pointed to the STC list.
