TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
When selecting a conference, you should first determine what it is that you
need to gain from it. Do you need to learn more about tech writing? Tools?
Techniques? Currrent stuff? Future trends? Once you know what YOU need,
start looking around for what might best meet your needs.
Right now, I am in the middle of putting together a conference - Info
Online 98 - that focuses on the needs of people who are developing online
information. It's scheduled for Nov 1 - 4 in Chicago. As part of this
conference we have sessions and seminars on Knowledge Management, EPSS
Development, and technical writing. There will be 2 and 1/2 conference days
where over 60 sessions will be presented, and a whole day of seminars; our
speaker list is a veritable Who's Who of the writing community. This will
be THE premier event for the online content development community this year.
There's not a lot of information available yet - I'm just getting the final
sessions nailed down - but a mailing will be coming out around August 1,
and our web site will be fully populated by then as well.
I hope you'll consider Info Online 98 as your event!
