Technical Communication Conference Scheduled Saturday, July
18
"Harvesting Your Horizons," a daylong conference covering a
range of technical communication topics, will be held Saturday, July 18, at
the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on Creedmoor Road near Crabtree Valley Mall
in Raleigh, NC.
The conference, sponsored by the Carolina Chapter of the
Society for Technical Communication, is intended for technical writers,
editors and designers and anyone else interested in technical communication
issues. Sessions are scheduled on sharpening communication skills,
manuscript editing, career management and advancement, job interviewing
techniques and employment opportunities in the Research Triangle area.
Reflecting the trend toward online communication,
presentations are also planned on the JavaScript programming language for
Internet applications and on XML, which stands for "extensible markup
language" and is an advancement on the current HTML markup standard used for
creating Internet web pages.
The conference, which includes a luncheon, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost is $55 for Society for Technical Communication members, $65 for
non-members and $40 for students. For registrations received after July 10,
the cost will be $65 for members, $75 for non-members and $45 for students.
